Last night the inaugural AGM for Cambourne Town FC took place which is a huge milestone for the club as we begin a new era of football for the benefit of Cambourne.

Chair Cllr Greg Thompson thanked all involved who have made this possible – with it all starting as an idea first discussed in summer 2019 - based on the principle of what would be in the best interests of anyone who wants to play club football in Cambourne.

Many months of discussion, meetings and hard work has happened thanks to so many volunteers across the different football clubs of Cambourne to develop the new club’s ethos, structure, operations and finances, kit, marketing, charitable status, FA Affiliation and much more! Thanks to the hard work of these volunteers the formation of Cambourne Town FC was completed by 7th July 2021.

At the AGM last night, the Election of the Committee took place and the Club Committee roles and contact details can be viewed on the website here. Chair Cllr Greg Thompson thanked Cambourne Town Council for their support in getting the club to this stage and commented that the whole club is grateful that the Town Council will continue to be involved. A huge thank you was expressed to all club members, parents and coaches who responded to the consultation and who have been supportive of the one club project. Special thanks were given to Katie Critchley and Chris Abbott from Cambs FA who have supported the club and also Diane Bradshaw, Sarah Hudson, Jairo Marin for their involvement.

We reflect on the huge success of the previous football clubs in Cambourne over the years, and the passion and commitment shown by all, which the new club has a responsibility to nurture and preserve; we now look to further exciting times ahead together as Cambourne Town FC, starting with the Summer Tournament sponsored by Peasgood & Skeates, which will take place on 4th and 5th September.
